Has Anyone Ever Seen the Trinity Together?
The answer, amazingly enough is yes. John, in Revelation, was taken in the
spirit to Heaven to be shown the things which must happen. Remember, John was in
the spirit, and whether this was a vision of Heaven or he actually was taken
into Heaven, there is little doubt as to what he is describing is the Father,
Son, and Holy Ghost together.
Revelation 4:1-11 After this I looked, and, behold, a door
was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a
trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up here, and I will show you things
which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a
throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
We now read a description of who John
saw on the throne, and it is talking about God the Father. We will see in the
next chapter in Revelation that this is not Jesus as He is seen coming and
taking the scroll out of the hand of His Father who is on the throne.
And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a
carnelian stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in appearance
like unto an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty thrones:
and upon the thrones I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white
clothing; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Now we get a reference and description
of what John saw pertaining to the Holy Spirit, who was also present.
And out of the throne proceeded lightning and thunderings
and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which
are the seven Spirits of God. (Reference to the Holy Spirit, see the study of
the Seven Spirits of God on this site) And before the throne there was a sea of
glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the
throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and behind. And the
first living creature was like a lion, and the second living creature like a
calf, and the third living creature had a face as a man, and the fourth living
creature was like a flying eagle. And the four living creatures had each of them
six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day
and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is
to come. And when those living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him
that sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, The four and twenty elders
fall down before him that is sitting on the throne, and worship him that lives
forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, You are
worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for you have created all
things, and for your pleasure they are and were created.
Now we again hear what the Father is
doing, and what He has in His hand.
Revelation 5:1-14 And I saw in the right hand of him that
sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven
seals.
And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who
is worthy to open the scroll, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in
heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the scroll,
neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to
open and to read the scroll, neither to look thereon.
Now we see Jesus, as a Lamb, coming
before the Father
And one of the elders said unto me, Weep not: behold, the
Lion of the tribe of Judah the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll,
and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the
throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a
Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are
the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. And he came and took the
scroll out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. And when he had
taken the scroll, the four living creatures and four and twenty elders fell down
before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden bowls full of
incense, which are the prayers of saints. And they sang a new song, saying, You
are worthy to take the scroll, and to open the seals thereof: for you were
slain, and have redeemed us to God by your blood out of every tribe, and tongue,
and people, and nation; And have made us unto our God a kingdom and priests: and
we shall reign on the earth. And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels
round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders: and the number
of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; Saying
with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and
riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. And every
creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as
are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor,
and glory, and power, be unto him that sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb
forever and ever. And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the four and
twenty elders fell down and worshiped him that lives forever and ever.
Did you notice as Jesus was being described as the
Lamb He was seen having Seven horns (POWER) and Seven eyes (Wisdom, Discernment,
Knowledge) which was attributed to the Spirit of God. Jesus was anointed by the
Holy Spirit during His earthly ministry, and we know the word anoint literally
means to have something poured on, rubbed in, and penetrating with. Do you see
even as we see the Holy Spirit seperate before the throne and before the Father,
Jesus comes (in His resurrected body) with the Holy Spirit through Him, and on
Him, and working through Him.
What an awesome revelation, and what an incredible
vision of what is to come. We will someday see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
together in their beauty and glory they shared before the beginning of time.
